Kawasaki has developed iVSG, a pseudo-inertia technology that is essential for making renewable energy a main power source, and conducted a technical demonstration jointly with a company in the Philippines. iVSG is a control method for inverter-based power sources developed by Kawasaki. In inverter-based power sources for renewable energy such as photovoltaic generation, there are no rotating components, making it impossible to maintain grid frequency. However, an inverter equipped with iVSG can be controlled to behave as if it were a rotating generator, which is expected to contribute to stabilizing the power grid.
